Giorgio Moroder choses the top 3 collaborations from his prolific career.

Giorgio Moroder is one of the most influential living musical artists with a plethora of memorable collabs, so it’s refreshing to see that he considers his newer projects, like 2013’s “Giorgio by Moroder” with Daft Punk and his recent reimagining of “Tom’s Diner”, some of his best work.

According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, his three greatest joint efforts are his work with Daft Punk, Donna Summer’s seminal hit “Love To Love You Baby” and of course “Tom’s Diner” with Britney Spears.

On “Tom’s Diner” he said:

Britney asked if I was interested in producing her with the [Suzanne Vega] song “Tom’s Diner.” I started to record the chords because, on an a cappella song, you can have whatever chords you want. When I was happy with the tracks, I sent it to her. I was shocked by how big she is worldwide. When the song was leaked, she was trending for almost a day. I knew she was big, but I did not know that she was that big.

It’s a little bizarre that Giorgio was unaware of Britney’s global reach, but we’ll let that slide because to put “Tom’s Diner” in such good company is undoubtedly quite the compliment.

His sentiments echo that of many fans (yours truly firmly included) who consider “Tom’s Diner” to be amongst Spears’ best work – not an easy feat when considering her impressive back catalogue. Hopefully the hype that’s surrounding the track (especially now it’s available to download on iTunes) may lead to an official single release or even a music video. Failing that, it’d be nice to see Britney add “Tom’s Diner” to her award winning Piece of Me residency when she revamps the show at the end of the year.

Would you like to see “Tom’s Diner” as a single?
